OPENING TO MY YES
This Summer, I decided to change my teaching schedule, but it was a decision fraught with confusion and fear. I was afraid of a few things: disappointing my regular students; that I wouldn’t like the new schedule; and the unknown of starting new classes while letting go of successful ones that I enjoy. So I’d go back and forth: should I or shouldn’t I? Is this going to go well? And how could I know? The future is completely unknown! All I have to go on is my experience and my desires. So I kept coming back to what I value most. Why was I saying No to two great morning classes? What’s most important to me? What is the Yes I’m opening towards? The opening I wanted was to free up my weekends: to be with Patrick, to travel, as well as extra time for my morning practices. Some decisions are easier, but this one took weeks for me to come to clarity and strength around. I’d go one way, and then the other. Each time, by coming back to what I really wanted, and trusting that by following the Yes, it would all work out, I was able to return to my original choice and take the plunge into the unknown of changing my schedule.
So here’s what I did: I dropped my Friday class and gave it to Shemaia, who will now teach a Level 1 – 2+ at 9:15 – 10:45 a.m. And I dropped my Saturday class and gave it to Ali McCall, who will teach it at the same time, same level. These two were my top picks. they are great teachers and I’ve trained both of them in a regular and advanced Anusra training. They both have other extensive training and experience, so please check them out! And I’ve added two new morning classes instead: Tuesday and Thursdays, 10:15 – 11:45 a.m. Level 1-2, as well as a 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. Meditation and Pranayama class. I’m excited about my new classes and to see who comes. And I’m sad to say goodbye to those who can no longer meet me those weekend mornings. I hope we can meet at other times!!
And now that I’m clear and have moved through the fear, I’m feeling lighter and curious about the Yes that I’m choosing. What else might I be opening space for with this Yes? I can’t wait to find out!
May we all stand strong in our No’s and say Yes to greater openings and freedom!
Namasté,
Robyn
